Phoenix Picks New District 7 Council Member
On Tuesday, 4/09/24, the Phoenix City Council selected Carlos Galindo-Elvira as the new city council representative for District 7 (Phx D7 Appointment). District 7 was vacated by Councilwoman Yassamin Ansari when she resigned to run for the US Congress to replace Congressman Ruben Gallego who is running for the US Senate to replace Senator Kirsten Sinema, who chose not to run for re-election. Galindo-Elvira will fill the position until November 2024, when the city will hold a special election for District 7, Galindo-Elvira plans to run in the special election to serve the remainder of Ansari’s term in 2025.
