CALA Crossfade LAB

For the inaugural Crossfade LAB, author and music critic Josh Kun (Los Angeles) moderated a conversation with visual artist Tania Candiani (Mexico City) and experimental composer Guillermo Galindo (San Francisco) in which they discussed cutting-edge experiments in sound, sculpture, landscape interventions and cultural crossings. Crossfade LAB also featured live performances by Guillermo Galindo and the indigenous electro-acoustic collective Radio Healer.
“The event was terrific! Josh’s remarks were really powerful. I am taken with his description of the Sonideros and the messages they incorporate into their DJ mix from people in the audience who are paying tribute to loved ones. Very powerful. I am very enthusiastic about the collaboration with CALA.” -Steven Tepper, Dean, Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts.
The next Crossfade LAB event held in the Fall will include Grammy-award winning musician Julieta Venegas. For more information about future CALA Alliance events or sponsorship opportunities, please e-mail Casandra Hernandez at casandra@calaalliance.org.
