CALA Crossfade LAB
On April 18, 2016, CALA Alliance and the Arizona State University Art Museum launched CALA Crossfade LAB, an exciting new program that presents conversations and art experiences in Phoenix highlighting internationally known Latino/Latina artists and creative leaders from Arizona, the United States and the Americas. Ruben Alvarez, CALA Board Chair and MA Managing Partner, states “CALA’s new partnership with the ASU Art Museum provides us an opportunity to elevate the types of events and experiences that we can program for audiences here in Arizona, which we hope will be thought provoking and stimulating. We are excited about this and other partnerships being developed with various art organizations in the Phoenix metro area.”
For the inaugural Crossfade LAB, author and music critic Josh Kun (Los Angeles) moderated a conversation with visual artist Tania Candiani (Mexico City) and experimental composer Guillermo Galindo (San Francisco) in which they discussed cutting-edge experiments in sound, sculpture, landscape interventions and cultural crossings. Crossfade LAB also featured live performances by Guillermo Galindo and the indigenous electro-acoustic collective Radio Healer.
