City of Phoenix & Molera Alvarez lead trade mission to Guadalajara

The City of Phoenix formalized a partnership with one of Mexico’s leading tech hubs this month, capping a successful trade and tourism mission to the State of Jalisco from April 19-21. Mayor Greg Stanton and Councilman Michael Nowakowski led the mission to the cities of Guadalajara and Zapopan, known for their importance in the areas of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. Among the delegates were representatives of the Phoenix startup community, biomedical sector, universities, chamber leaders and tourism industry. Highlights of the mission included discussions with Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval and his Secretary of Innovation, Science & Technology, meetings with the Mayors of Guadalajara, Zapopan and Tlaquepaque, and a tour of an Intel design facility. The mission culminated in a signing ceremony to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding between Phoenix and Zapopan to cooperate on two-way trade and investment promotion. Mexico’s Consul 
General in Phoenix, Roberto Rodriguez, and U.S. Consul General in Guadalajara, Susan Abeyta, participated in the signing with Mayor Stanton and Zapopan Mayor Hector Robles.
