XICO Announces 2024 Virginia E. Cárdenas Arts Advocate Award Recipient
Xico, one of the oldest ethnic arts organizations in the United States and a leading organization advancing culture, artists and community, today announced that Molera Alvarez Managing Partner Ruben E. Alvarez is the 2024 honoree of the prestigious Virginia E. Cárdenas Arts Advocate Award.
After Virginia’s untimely passing in 2012, Xico established the award that bears her name to honor Virginia’s legacy as a passionate advocate for arts and culture particularly those of the Latino and indigenous communities. The award recognizes Virginia’s steadfast and sustained commitment of more than 30 years to Xico in a variety of roles, and her service on the Arizona Commission on the Arts. As with Virginia, Ruben’s arts advocacy includes his long-time support for Xico and his service on the Arizona Commission on the Arts. He is also a board member of various arts organizations including CALA Alliance, the Phoenix Art Museum, and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies.
The award will be presented at Xico’s 36th Annual Dinner and Art Auction on February 24, 2024 in Phoenix, AZ. For more information about this event, visit their website here.
