The official kickoff for Proposition 479 was held with a who’s who of supporters including Governor Katie Hobbs, Maricopa County Supervisor Jack Sellers, Mayors Kate Gallego, Jerry Weiers (Glendale), Kenn Weise (Avondale), John Giles (Mesa) and Corey Woods (Tempe). The Yes on 479 Committee consists of business leaders throughout the Valley.
Proposition 479 will extend the existing half cent transportation tax for Maricopa County on the November ballot. This will continue to help meet the transportation needs for expected growth in the greater Phoenix area for the next 20 years.
This proposition includes:
-40.5% to freeways & other routes in the state highway system
-37% to public transportation
22.5% to arterial streets, intersection improvements & regional transportation infrastructure
The tax will fund the unanimously approved plan adopted by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) in 2022.
