Ruben Alvarez Named 2016 LLS Man of the Year

On June 11, 2016, Ruben Alvarez, MA Managing Partner, and Geri Farr, Senior VP of Nova Home Loans, earned the titles of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2016 Man & Woman of the Year, respectively. During a 10 week campaign, 17 individuals worked to raise funds through a variety of events and personal efforts to support the fight against blood cancer. Each dollar raised counted as one ‘vote’ and the votes earned by each candidate and their campaign teams were tallied to determine the Man & Woman of the Year. The collective efforts of all of the candidates produced a record-breaking $668,000.
“I really appreciate the generosity of many friends and supporters who contributed to my campaign. This effort would not have been successful without their support. The best part of this effort is that all the money raised will help make a difference in the lives of thousands of patients battling blood cancers. My brother John passed away due to Leukemia 20 years ago at age 24 and being able to honor and keep his memory alive through this effort meant the world to me.”
