City of Phoenix Approves 2020-21 Budget

The City of Phoenix has formally approved a budget for 2020-21, with $27 million worth of previously approved balancing actions and $1 million in new spending for Fire 911 Dispatchers and the Office of Accountability and Transparency. The City Council has also begun holding subcommittee meetings virtually that had not met since March due to COVID-19, including the Public Safety & Justice Subcommittee and the Land Use & Livability Subcommittee. The Coronavirus Relief Fund plan is also moving forward and being built out in more detail, with a refugee and asylum-seeker assistance program, food assistance program, Wi-Fi access for city-owned facilities program and an arts and culture assistance program now formulated and approved by the council.
