Distinguished public servant Margie A. Emmermann joins Molera Alvarez

Molera Alvarez proudly announces the addition of accomplished Arizona state government leader Margie A. Emmermann as the firm’s Vice President of Strategic Initiatives.

Margie distinguished herself in a government service career spanning four Governors’ administrations and multiple state agencies. She most recently served Governor Jan Brewer as Policy Advisor for Mexico and Latin America, and Executive Director of the Arizona Mexico Commission, positions she also held under Governors Fife Symington and Jane Hull.

As Director of the Arizona Department of Commerce in the early 2000’s, Margie positioned the state in the new global economy and promoted rural development. Her accomplishments as Commerce Director include playing a key role in attracting the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGEN) to Phoenix. Governor Napolitano later appointed Margie to direct the Arizona Office of Tourism. During her six-year tenure, Margie successfully grew the volume of travel activity and related expenditures in Arizona through tourism promotion and development.

Margie’s exceptional government service was preceded by a 21-year career in the private sector, including serving as Vice President and Manager of Hispanic Marketing/Community Relations for Bank of America. Margie also held key management positions in marketing and strategic planning for US WEST Communications.

“Margie has been a tremendous asset to the State of Arizona and we are thrilled to be able to claim her as an asset to our firm and our clients,” said Molera Alvarez Managing Partner Ruben Alvarez. “She embodies the commitment to excellence and community that we strive for every day.”

Margie has been honored by many Valley organizations for her community involvement and is a recipient of the prestigious OHTLI award, bestowed by the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations on a U.S. resident of Mexican heritage for outstanding contributions to the Hispanic community. Margie was named “2008 State Tourism Director of the Year” by the National Council of State Tourism Directors, which is a part of the U.S. Travel Association.

Margie donates much of her time to charitable organizations and serves on the boards of the Valley of the Sun United Way, AAA Arizona, Celebración Artística de las Americas, Arizona-Mexico Commission, Arizona District Export Council, and the Transportation and Trade Corridor Alliance.

Margie currently resides in Glendale with her husband Carlos, a financial manager. Margie has two sons, Nicolas and Carlitos, and three stepdaughters, Anne, Alexia, and Carolina.
