Phoenix Election 2015
Tuesday August 25th was a big day for the Phoenix City Council and several ballot propositions. Mayor Stanton and Councilmembers Williams, Gates, Valenzuela and Nowakowski were all re-elected by landslides. All propositions (General Plan, Home Rule, Electronic Payments, Pension Reform and Transportation) were supported by resounding majorities. Proposition 104, extending the existing transit tax, adding an additional 3/10 cent to expand the light rail and bus system and including funding for streets maintenance and improvements was the most controversial of the propositions, but passed with a 55% majority. Molera Alvarez VP Claude Mattox served as a member of the Citizens Committee on the Future of Phoenix Transportation that developed the plan.
