Mayor Stanton attends World Economic Forum on Latin America
The City of Phoenix continued to raise its international profile with Mayor Greg Stanton’s participation in the World Economic Forum on Latin America from May 7-8 in the state of Quintana Roo, with the support of Molera Alvarez through its Mexico City partner Estrategia Global. Mayor Stanton appeared on the panel discussion “The New Urban Agenda,” during which he noted that, “The City of Phoenix needs to be more active as an international player; that’s why we are developing a high quality economic agenda abroad for the benefit of our citizens.”
During the forum, Mayor Stanton advanced the Phoenix trade agenda by meeting with Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, as well as other important Mexican public and private sector leaders. The forum also provided a valuable opportunity to establish contact with high-ranking executives from global corporations such as Bombardier, Nestle, Nissan, Infosys and Qualcomm, to talk about why Phoenix is a hot location for global business. Mayor Stanton also met with Mexican entrepreneurs to exchange ideas on Smart Cities, specifically the City of Phoenix vision for a quality transportation strategy.
