Arizona increases trade ties with Mexican State of Sinaloa
Governor Mario López Valdez from the Mexican State of Sinaloa led a diplomatic and trade mission to Arizona in January that culminated in meetings with Governor Doug Ducey and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, organized by Molera Alvarez and the Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC). The Sinaloa delegation included Culiacán Mayor Sergio Felix Torres and Mazatlán Mayor Carlos E. Felton, as well as economic development and tourism officials.
The activities coordinated by Molera Alvarez and the AMC also included meetings with the City of Phoenix international trade team led by Christine Mackay, Director of Community and Economic Development, as well as with Arizona Department of Transportation Director John Halikowski, and leadership of the Arizona Commerce Authority and Arizona Office of Tourism. The participants agreed to collaborate on joint efforts to promote trade and investment between Arizona and Sinaloa, which share complementary interests in the agribusiness and energy sectors, among others. In addition, Governor López Valdez was introduced to the Arizona State Senate by Senator Catherine Miranda.
