On June 5, 2012, Arizona business and community leaders attended a reception hosted by Phoenix Councilman Michael Nowakowski, Chair of the Phoenix City Council’s Public Safety Subcommittee, to welcome and congratulate Daniel V. Garcia as the new Police Chief of the Phoenix Police Department. Chief Garcia, a former City of Dallas Assistant Chief of Police, was sworn in on May 14, 2012 by Phoenix City Manager David Cavazos.
